Washington’s Museum of Science Fiction held its third annual Escape Velocity convention in the spring, delighting more than 4,700 attendees over three days with over 300 hours of science and science fiction-themed programmes. This year the event featured more museum gallery items, exhibitors, discussion panels and interactive activities than previously, including ROOM magazine as a media partner for the first time. The 2018 theme - ‘Other Worlds’ - appeared across many of the activities and gave the opportunity for Asgardia, the first space nation, to feature in the special programme tracks.

For Asgardians who ‘virtually’ attended the event, a new release of the museum’s mobile app included new Asgardian features and functionality such as, creating a boarding pass to Asgardia, information about the space nation, and links to the Escape Velocity programmes.
