How did ESA build its amazing new visualisation tool for comet 67/P Churyumov-Gerasimenko?
Well, as the terrific Emily Lakdawalla explains in a recent blog post, it began with a 3D model created by space enthusiast Mattias Malmer of Sweden.
The tool itself, which is browser-based, has wowed scientists and laypeople alike.
As Emily correctly notes, this creation is the perfect example of how even major space agencies can utilise open data, sourced from people with a passion for all things cosmic.
